Create a Journey

How to create a new Journey and divide it into manageable Chunks for memorization.

A Journey represents your intention to memorize a specific range of the Quran. It keeps that intention organized so you can progress steadily without losing track of what you planned.

Why use a Journey

Without a defined plan it is easy to lose continuity between sessions. A Journey gives a single place that holds the range you chose, while its Chunks define the steps you will take to complete it.

How a Journey is structured

A Journey holds the overall range you intend to memorize. That range is then divided into manageable Chunks — smaller pieces you can focus on in one session. Journey and Chunk together form the organizational side of your plan. Your durable learning state, such as memorization progress for an Ayah and its smaller Parts, is tracked separately but remains connected to this structure.

Changing how you organize Journeys and Chunks does not erase the learning history that has already been recorded.

Creating a new Journey

To create a new Journey, choose the Quran range you want to memorize. Give the Journey a name that will make it easy to identify later, then confirm its creation.

After the Journey exists, you create and arrange its Chunks. Each Chunk should be small enough to memorize comfortably in one session. Keep Chunks ordered as you intend to work through them, so the next step is always clear.

When the Journey and its initial Chunks are ready, you can open a Chunk and begin the memorization flow.

After creation

  • Open a Chunk to begin working on its Ayahs and Parts.
  • Follow the memorization, recall, and review rhythm described in Start Memorizing.
  • Return to the Journey when you want to adjust the plan or continue to the next Chunk.

If you intend to use backup and recovery, see Backup & Restore before making large changes to local data.

Tips

  • Prefer smaller Chunks when you are starting. It is easier to complete and reinforce a short segment well than to rush a longer one.
  • Keep Chunk ordering stable so your progress history remains easy to follow.
  • If you are unsure where to start after creating a Journey, open the first Chunk and begin with a single Ayah or Part.
